Best short-form video tools for beginners
These tools caption a clip, cut a long video into shorts, draft a post, or look up YouTube keywords. None of them can promise views. You do not need every tool on this page. Start with the job you actually have, then read the free-plan note before you pay.

Submagic
- What it does
- Adds captions to short videos and can trim a clip, add b-roll, and clean up the audio.
- Who it is for
- People posting short clips who want captions without editing every line by hand.
- Free plan
- The site has a try-for-free button. It did not spell out an ongoing free allowance.
- Price we checked
- A stable free plan and a single paid price were not clear on the pricing page we read. The page showed more than one monthly figure, so this listing does not state a price.
- The catch
- Captions can mishear words. Read them before you publish. Do not trust a price copied from a review. Check the live pricing page.

Fliki
- What it does
- Turns a script or a short prompt into a video with an AI voiceover, pictures, and music.

- Free plan
- The free plan lists 3 credits a month, 720p video, and a Fliki watermark.
- Price we checked
- A free plan is available. The pricing page calls it free forever and says it needs no credit card. Paid plan dollar amounts did not appear in the text we read, so they are left out.
- The catch
- The free export has a watermark and a small monthly credit cap. Voices and pictures can look synthetic. Paid prices were not printed as numbers in the text we saved, so check the pricing page before you upgrade.

3 · Free tier
vidIQ
- What it does
- Looks up YouTube keywords and video ideas, and can help with titles and thumbnails. The same research can be used from other AI chat tools.
- Who it is for
- People with a YouTube channel who want keyword and idea research before they film.
- Free plan
- The help center lists the free plan at 150 AI credits a month. A separate help page says a free account connects one YouTube channel. Unused credits do not roll over.
- Price we checked
- A free plan is available. vidIQ's help center lists it as an ongoing plan with a monthly credit allowance. Paid plan prices were not in the article we could read, so they are left out.
- The catch
- Keyword scores and tips are not a promise of views. The free plan is one channel and a small credit pool. A paid trial can ask for a card and then renew. Read the plans page before you upgrade.

Metricool
- What it does
- Schedules posts and shows simple analytics for several social accounts.
- Who it is for
- People managing more than one brand who want planning and numbers in one login.
- Free plan
- The free plan is $0 and caps how many posts you can schedule.
- Price we checked
- Free is $0 per month (the page also showed €0) and can schedule up to 20 posts a month. Starter starts at €16 per month. The same page listed €16 for up to 5 brands, €29 for up to 10, €43 for up to 15, and €69 for up to 25. Paid US dollar amounts were not in the text.
- The catch
- Paid prices came through in euros. Do not assume the dollar checkout matches the euro number. The brand bundles change the price inside the same plan name.

Predis.ai

- Drafts social posts and simple ad creatives from a product link or a short brief.
- Who it is for
- People who want a pile of post drafts for products and will edit them before they go out.

- The page said you could start at $0 and also mentioned a 3-day free period. It is unclear whether $0 is an ongoing free plan.
- Price we checked
- The pricing page was running a sale of up to 50% off yearly plans. Dollar figures were on the page, but plan names did not come through cleanly and the sale price was mixed with the regular price. The paid price is unverified.
- The catch
- Ignore the sale banner until you see the price after it ends. Generated ads can invent product details. Check every claim against the real product.

- Free plan
- You can start without paying. Pro is the paid editor plan.

A Ukraine page labeled Pro as USD 19.99 per month and Ultra as USD 79 per month, and Teams at USD 12.49 per month per seat. CapCut says the displayed price is a reference and the final price appears after you sign in.
- The catch
- The public price is a reference. Tax, store fees, and regional offers change the charge. CapCut's help page says there is no single global price. AI tools also draw from a monthly credit pool.
7 · Free tier

- Who it is for
- People who already have a long recording and want short posts from it.
- Free plan
- The free plan includes a small monthly credit allotment.

- The catch
- Credits cap how many minutes you can process. The tool picks moments for you, and those picks are often wrong. Watch the clip before you post it.

9 · Free tier
Kapwing

- A browser video editor for trimming, subtitles, resizing, and simple AI voice or dubbing tasks.

- Price we checked
- Free plan at $0 with 10 credits, a watermark, and exports up to 4 minutes at 720p. Pro is listed at $16 with 1,000 credits a month. Business is listed at $50 with 4,000 credits a month. The cards tie those prices to monthly credit allowances, and the FAQ says paid plans are a recurring payment.
- The catch
- The free export is watermarked and short. Subtitles and dubbing spend credits. The page did not print the words 'per month' beside $16 and $50, so read the checkout line.
Questions
- Will these tools get me views?
- No. They caption, cut, schedule, or draft. Views are not something a tool can promise, and keyword scores are not a promise either.
- Do I need every tool on this page?
- No. One editor and one caption or clipping tool is enough to start. Scheduling and keyword research are separate jobs.
- Can the captions be wrong?
- Yes. Read them before you publish. Submagic, Opus Clip, and the editors can mishear words.
- Which Visit links are affiliate links?
- Submagic, Fliki, vidIQ, Metricool, and Predis use affiliate Visit links on this site. CapCut, Opus Clip, VEED, and Kapwing do not. The order is not based on that.
- Is every tool free?
- Some list a free plan with a cap, a watermark, or a credit limit. Others only say you can try them, and the listing leaves the paid price out. The note under each name is copied from that listing.
