Free AI tools to start a side hustle
A side project still needs a person to do the work. These six tools can draft text, make a graphic, cut a short video, check writing, publish a one-page site, or collect a form. They do not find customers, and they do not pay you. Each one lists a free plan, with limits in the note under the name. The order follows the task: write, design, video, edit, page, form. It is not based on commissions.
1 · Free tier
ChatGPT
- What it does
- A chat box for drafts, answers, and simple images. You describe the task in plain language and edit what comes back.
- Who it is for
- Beginners who want one place to draft posts, product descriptions, emails, and rough outlines.
- Free plan
- The free plan includes text chat with usage limits. Heavier tools, including some image work, are limited or left off.
- Price we checked
- Free plan at $0. Go is $8 per month. Plus is $20 per month. Pro is $100, $200, or $500 per month. These are US dollar prices on OpenAI's ChatGPT pricing notes dated with the October 14, 2026 model changes.
- The catch
- The Go plan may include ads. Usage is not a fixed number of messages, and it changes with the model. Prices can differ by country.
2 · Free tier
Canva
- What it does
- A browser design tool for posts, simple videos, presentations, and print layouts, with AI helpers inside the editor.
- Who it is for
- Beginners who need a decent-looking graphic and do not want desktop design software.
- Free plan
- Canva Free is available without a paid plan. Free AI use is a smaller allowance than Pro.
- Price we checked
- Canva Free is US$0 for one person. Canva Pro is listed at US$144 per year for one person on the US pricing page. Business is sold per person (yearly figure not relied on here beyond Pro). Monthly App Store prices can differ. Canva says the price you pay is the one in your billing settings, and taxes may be added.
- The catch
- Regional pages can still disagree, and Canva says the price you pay is the one in your billing settings. Confirm that screen before you pay. The US$144 figure is a yearly price, about $12 a month if you divide it by twelve. Free AI use is a smaller allowance than Pro.
3 · Free tier
CapCut
- What it does
- A video editor for phones and the desktop, with templates, captions, and AI effects.
- Who it is for
- Beginners cutting short videos on a phone.
- Free plan
- You can start without paying. Pro is the paid editor plan.
- Price we checked
- A free plan is listed at USD 0. Pro is listed at USD 19.99 and Ultra at USD 79 on CapCut's pricing page. A Ukraine page labeled Pro as USD 19.99 per month and Ultra as USD 79 per month, and Teams at USD 12.49 per month per seat. CapCut says the displayed price is a reference and the final price appears after you sign in.
- The catch
- The public price is a reference. Tax, store fees, and regional offers change the charge. CapCut's help page says there is no single global price. AI tools also draw from a monthly credit pool.
4 · Free tier
Grammarly
- What it does
- Checks spelling, grammar, and tone in the browser and in documents. Paid plans add rewrites and a larger monthly allowance of AI prompts.
- Who it is for
- People who write in English and want a checker sitting inside email, docs, and the browser.
- Free plan
- The free plan covers spelling, grammar, and a small monthly set of AI prompts.
- Price we checked
- Free plan, with 100 generative AI prompts a month on the plans page. Pro is $30 per member per month, or $12 per member per month when billed annually at $144 a year. Grammarly's plans page leads with the $12 figure; the support article spells out the monthly rate.
- The catch
- The $12 price is the annual average, not the month-to-month bill. Pro is priced per member. Regional currency can differ at checkout.
5 · Free tier
Carrd
- What it does
- Builds a single-page site from a template. It is a page builder, not an AI writer.
- Who it is for
- Beginners who need one page and a link: a profile, a small offer, or a place to collect email.
- Free plan
- Three sites per account are free. Custom domains, forms, and removing the footer are Pro features.
- Price we checked
- Free for up to three sites, using Carrd's core features, with Carrd branding. Pro starts at $19 per year. Pro can be tried for 7 days.
- The catch
- Pro is a yearly price, not a monthly one. The free footer says the site was made with Carrd. Forms and embed widgets need Pro.
6 · Free tier
Tally
- What it does
- Builds forms with unlimited responses on the free plan, including payments, file uploads, and simple logic.
- Who it is for
- People who need a form for applications, orders, or a short survey and do not want a per-response fee.
- Free plan
- Most form features, including payments and conditional logic, are on the free plan.
- Price we checked
- The free plan is real: unlimited forms and submissions within a fair-use rule. The paid price is unverified because it is localized. One load of the pricing page showed Pro at €20 per month and Business at €65 per month. Another load of the same URL showed $24 and $74.
- The catch
- Removing Tally branding and using a custom domain are paid. The price changes with your country, so read the currency symbol. Form data is stored in Europe.

Questions
- Will these tools make money?
- No. They help with a task such as a draft, a graphic, or a form. Customers and sales are a separate problem, and this page does not claim to solve it.
- Do I need all six?
- No. Start with the task you actually have. One writing tool and one design tool is enough for many first projects.
- Are the free plans unlimited?
- No. ChatGPT's free plan has usage limits. Canva's free AI allowance is smaller than Pro. CapCut's public price is a reference. Read each free-plan note before you rely on it.
- Which Visit link is an affiliate link?
- Tally. It is last because a form is the last step in this list, not because of a commission. The other Visit buttons go to the official sites.
- Is this a course?
- No. The free-guide button on this site is a separate plain walk-through. It does not promise income either.
